About Nurturing Foundations Community Programmes
Nurturing Foundations created its community programmes to support the community in various way:
The African & Caribbean Alliance (ACA)
Jay Quadri, Nurturing Foundations founder, set up the African & Caribbean Alliance (ACA) project, a collaborative effort focuses on addressing, supporting, working with, and serving the needs of children, young people, and families, particularly within the Black African and Black Caribbean communities. ACA aims to thereby ensure that these communities, which may have traditionally faced barriers in accessing universal support services, are better informed about available services and receive the assistance they need.

Healthy Hearts
Greater Manchester has high rates of cardiovascular disease and poorer health outcomes compared to the rest of England. North Manchester residents face some of the poorest health outcomes in Greater Manchester.
Inequalities in health outcomes disproportionately affect particular communities, and during the COVID-19 pandemic, this disproportionate effect was especially highlighted for Black African and
Caribbean communities in Harpurhey, Higher Blackley and Charlestown.
The overall aim of the Healthy Hearts Project is to improve awareness and uptake of treatments for cardiovascular disease, particular high cholesterol and high blood pressure forthe Black African and Caribbean community in Harpurhey, Higher Blackley and Charlestown.

Pre Diabetes Cookery
Nurturing Foundations’ Pre-Diabetes Cookery Program is a collaborative Venture Fostering Healthy African Cuisine. Nurturing Foundations, a community-driven organization, has launched a comprehensive six-month pre-diabetes cookery program. This bi-weekly initiative, held every Tuesday, aims to empower individuals with prediabetes to make informed dietary choices and adopt a healthier lifestyle.
In collaboration with dedicated NHS staff and a passionate group of patients, the program delves into the intricacies of preparing nutritious and delectable African cuisine. Participants will gain valuable insights into incorporating balanced meals into their daily routines, emphasizing fresh, whole ingredients and traditional cooking techniques.
Through this collaborative approach, Nurturing Foundations bridges the gap between healthcare professionals and individuals affected by prediabetes, fostering a supportive environment that promotes healthy eating practices and overall well-being.
